Mission Statement:                           It is the mission of the School of Science and Technology, in accordance with the mission of Southern Arkansas University, to educate students in the basic and applied natural sciences, mathematics, computer science, agriculture, and nursing to prepare them to enter industrial, governmental, and professional careers as well as advanced degree studies.  

 

 

Course Description:                           An introduction to the techniques of  numerical analysis.  Applications include finding roots of equations, numerical calculus, matrix methods for solving systems of linear equations, and the numerical solution of differential equations.  Eror control and algorithm complexity and convergence will be covered.

 

                                                            We will concentrate on producing computer programs implementing the techniques we learn, using the C programming language.

Grading Policy:                                  Programs:                     40 %

                                                            Midterm Exam: 20 %               

                                                            Final Exam:                   40 %
